Hi, loved ones. I'm writing from home. Something is up and it isn't too good.
At 6am I turned over in bed--and the world REELED. You've heard of people being so drunk the room spun? Imagine that--without the alcohol.
By 7am I was hanging onto the porch railing unable to control my bladder and vomiting forcefully, over and over and over
There was a strange tingling/achy numbness isolated on the left side of my skull. I thought it was my blood sugar. I drank some orange juice. It came up forcefully. I slowly ate two caramels. They came up--forcefully. I was soaked with cold sweat with no balance whatsoever.
Needless to say I had to call in for work. Once I was empty I got Roomies daughter to give me a lift to the doctor's. It could be what's called a Vestibular Migraine--two of the things that bring this on are prolonged stress and hypoglycemia. Another thing that is being investigated is Ménière's Disease--how I respond in the next 24-48 will determine a lot.
I have a very large pile of pills to take, including Valium which is actually prescibed for veritgo, to my surprise. The main drug is Zofran, which works a bit better than Imiterex and Butalbital . At least that has eased my nausea enough that I could get down some ginger ale and a peanut butter sandwich without losing it.--that was not quite three hours ago. At the moment the world is standing still...but cutting my eyes suddenly in any direction or lying down or rising or even leaning slightly in any direction or turning my head causes the whole world to swirl around me.
this has GOT to stop. I can't function. I can't get behind the wheel of a car. I can barely walk across the room without falling or stumbling. And it's definitely not an ear infection or sinus, which was what I thought. Last finger stick shows my blood sugar within normal tolerance.
And yes--I am scared to death about my job--they fired a friend of mine last week, just for showing up late one day.
