I have had it with cheap mp3 players.
NONE of them have ever lasted longer than six months. Even my beloved 4g Magnavox has crapped out on me. After talking with my darling sister [livejournal.com profile] teapriestess  I decided that I would finally break down and buy a damn Pod--but it had to be cheap and recertified and had to have as much memory as my Magnavox.
Well...I hit it lucky. I went directly to Apple's website and scored a 16 gig 4th Gen Nano for 119.00 with free shipping. The color choices were very limited--I really wanted red but they had orange and that would be easier to spot in my bag than black, so orange it is and Pumpkin it shall be christened. I am downloading the iTunes software right now and I did spring for the wall recharger since I travel a lot.
Since I bought it straight from Apple it comes with waranty and brand new case and battery. And it was half of what a recertified 16 gig would be on NewEgg or Tiger Direct. This was one hell of a steal--so I can put up with the color for damn sure!

I have a 2nd gen (I think 2nd? Before everything went to video, anyway) nano, and the only thing I don't like it for is audiobooks. As long as you don't get a quirky one, they really work well! Mine seems to be lasting a long time, too. The only trouble I've had is it freezing on me once, and that was recent - given that it's getting into middle-age in technology years, I'd say that's a pretty good track record.

That beats the hell out of 6 months or less, which is what I've been through before. I've had a Magnavox, an RCA, a Memorex, another RCA, a ZVue (which runs on SG memory cards and is big as my hand), and a Sapphire Ivory which is so tiny and has such an awful interface I don't use it--which is a shame because it's an awesome MP3 recorder---oh, and I also have my Sony, but that's for recording only. So hell yeah, I'm ready to Nano!

I had a WalMart gift certificate and so I sprung for a $30 Belkin TuneCast that will allow me to play it thru the car stereo, and on eBay I found 4th gen SKINS--there is actually a Lord Sesshy skin, a Death Note skin, an FMA skin and a Beatles Abbey Road skin--for about 7 bucks each! I'll also get a good poly-carb hard cover to keep her safe. I am so looking forward to having my music on a GOOD player--I've bought 4-5 cheap ones over the past few years and for what I've spent I could have bought a decent Nano. What kind of Pod do you have?

You are adorable. I am an ipod touch girl. Hubby makes fun of me cause since day one with the Classic Ipod, I have 'invested' in Mr Jobs company. I just gave away the older versions to one of our tech guys who likes owning dinosaurs.

So basically my touch takes care of everything. It is the single most used device I own. I tend to wait two generations of updates before changing. I changed late last year. I always buy black or silver brush metal so it goes with everything else I own. Yes, I have issues. I like things to co-ordinate lol. I despise chaos. LOL!

I am happy for you, cause you are going to hear your music as it should have been heard in the first place.
