I brought beads for the whole damned department, decked my cube in Mardi Gras colors--and even though I'm sick as a dog with the latest Cubonic Plague I still ate a little Red Beans and Rice in honor of the day.

First off--it ain't Mardi Gras until I've gotten my Doctor John groove on. This man IS of The Saints....and I don't mean our beloved football heroes...you from de Crescent City...you know what I mean, chile...

Date: 2010-02-16 11:58 pm (UTC)True story about Dr. John aka Mac Rebenack ... he and my father used to play music together back in the 50's and 60's. They traveled throughout the US and Canada. Mac Rebenack and the Spades or some shit like that in the EARLY 60's. My parents married in 1961 and my mom traveled with them ... she used to tell me that Mac was into all sorts of drugs and shit BEFORE it was popular, lol!
Now my dad NEVER took drugs, drank or smoked, seriously ... he collects ex wives *rolls eyes* at least he had the sense not to have anymore kids the fucker ... anyhoo Dr. John asked him PLENTY times to join him in NY on tour, etc. and he refused ... the reason cause he is a Witness and doesn't approve of Dr. John's lifestyle ... whatever. But he does perform with Harry Connick, Jr. & Sr. I never said my dad was smart ... talented yes but stupid to put his pride aside and earn a bigger income.
