Pages 100-109--AVOID. At least we don't see them kiss. You see a hair ruffle and a hug after Ed laughs his ass off at her for telling him she loves him. I HATE her for wearing Trisha's hairstyle.The rest of it is a little too pat, but the scene where the brothers leave the gate together is beautiful. Seeing the little bastard from the flask meet Truth was great. Greed is the one who finishes Father off in the end. Al finally gets some of Gracia's apple pie. Looks like Marcoh gives Roy the chance to get his sight back with the last philosopher's stone--but I don't think he takes him up on it. ...I think. NO ROYAI!!!! I'm dancing with joy over that!! We knew we'd lost the Ed/Win battle but ROY's VIRTUE IS INTACT!!!

I fuckin' detest this---there were some good moments in the final chapter but she should have brought the brothers out and QUIT. And considering Roy's one deep attachment was to Maes, I'd say we can break out the comopolitans and rainbow flags--I guess THAT was the one sop to the rest of us. We knew we'd lose Ed...but I'm betting he goes on the down low, leaves the screaming wife and screaming brats, sneaks off to the city and gets down and dirty with kinky blindfold buttsexx with Roy. and the last frame shows Ed alone with a suitcase getting on a train--DITCH THE BITCH AND MAKE THE SWITCH!!!

Score one for the queer side!!
(I've never been able to see his feeling for Hawkeye as anything other than big brother/paternal in the manga. I've tried, and I can't.)

Actually, I think it's more likely that Winry's going to kick Ed out, or he leaves in fear of concussive injuries.

I hope that's true, because otherwise I'm crying foul. It's still a disgustingly "perfect" ending, but that would go against the rules she's already established. Actually, I think I could deal with it if it weren't for that EdWin happy family picture (and that damn paternalistic pat on the head he gave Winry).

But when I calmed down enough to look again--you see Maes briefly in Roy's scene and the anguish on Roy's face....pretty damned obvious. Simce Maes had no glasses it looked to me like perhaps the last thing he might have seen was his lover's face...

*squints* is that Maes? The expression is all wrong. All I can tell about the dialog is that they're talking about Ishval. Dammit, the translations can't come out fast enough...

but I'll be goddamned if I'll go to the coms for Tombow--I don't want to see all the squeeing and rejoicing of the hetshitters. Y'l'know...I'm almost tempted to just forget about BroHood from this point on. If she had just ended it with Ed and Al leaving the Gate, or walking up the road to Pinako's house...

I was scrolling through my DVR list and looked at all the Brotherhood eps I have saved so far... and eh. Not that I had much desire to rewatch them in the first place, now I really don't care to do it. (Except maybe any ep where Roy is exceptionally badass.) I still think it'll pretty much be over for me after I see Roy vs. Envy. Or maybe I'll stop once I get a last peek at my honey Kimblee. But I just don't care one way or another right now, truth be told.

You should at least see Roy v Envy...Roy is amazing. Brohood is ruined for me. And if I have to hear that bitch squee and wibble and confess her love I'll shoot myself. God...your icon makes me feel better.

okay, so what are the essential eps I shouldn't miss regarding Roy and Maes? That's really all I care to see anymore. (Aside from Kimblee)

ugh I'm so disappointed with the hyperhet. Did she REALLY have to throw that Parthian shot in there? I mean, it would have been fine with just the two of them hugging that one time or whatever the fuck. But REALLY, Arakawa-sensei? Not that we didn't see it coming, but... still. It so sucks when one of your favorite series EVER EVER EVER ends with goo and hyperhet. It's JKR all over again. :(

That having been said, I'm equally glad she didn't kill everyone off. I was worried for a minute there, when both Ed and Roy looked like they might be in the mood to sacrifice themselves for Al. I squeed like a little girl to see human!Al again...! That was wonderful. And how cool that Roy and Olivier BOTH got high positions in command of different areas, instead of making one of them Fuhrer? That surprised me. And Scar and Miles finally meet and become fellow soldiers - AWESOME!!

But yeah, the EdWin really puts a damper on everything. I was hoping for a better ending to one of my dearest fandoms, but you can't have everything, I suppose. *sigh*

Agh, and now we have to watch 100-109 happen live in nauseating color in Brotherhood... *makes wretching noises* Dammit, way to ruin the end of the manga AND the anime... *clutches her copies of the first anime*

The one thing I DID think was interesting was that last page of Ed with his suitcase boarding a train alone...makes you wonder just HOW much his is like Hohenheim

I quit reading and just watched the anime.

SO I have a happy Roy/Ed Al/Winry in my head.

Ed/Win I just never saw they were more like brother and sister.

But wow sounds like the end dropped the ball :(

The ending pissed me off too much to even say. After reading it I was torn between raging, crying and puking lol. The end was beyond sickeningly sweet it almost made me sick. But I agree with you on many levels. I'm so glad we didn't have to see Ed and Winry kiss. And as for the Trisha haircut... well it creeped me out to be honest. I can't see Ed being ok with that. I mean his so-called wife trying to look like his dead mom? Uh, that's pretty fk'ed up.

As for your: "DITCH THE BITCH AND MAKE THE SWITCH!!!" I completely agree. Run Ed while you still have the chance! Roy will protect you! =D

Yikes, I'm running a bit late to jump on this bandwagon of disgusted readers but I've just got to give my two cents worth.

Lame-ass-fucking-hyper!het-happilyeverafter-dandy endings have a place, they're called fucking Disney movies and bedtime stories, NOT dramatically epic totally ruined-by-the-end series' such as Fullmetal Alchemist. Winry's whiny confession of love, Roy getting his GODDAMNED sight back, happy little Al/Mei, Ed/Win picture just fuck it all I gave up on Brotherhood and am a little tempted to sell my manga (although after I've calmed down a bit I probably won't be that tempted) I have my original series and always will! CoS was my cure for the heartache of this astoundingly disappointing FMA end.

I spent the part of the last 24 hours burning copies of my .avi files of Original Series as backup DVDs so I now have two complete DVD sets of the original series---and I own both the basic and director's box sets of CoS...and am pretty fed up for good with the Manga. I had given up on Mangaverse until I let myself get sucked into BroHood...Brohood was Cow and Square Enix milking it for all it is worth. Fuck 'em. The only thing I truly liked about Brohood was Roy's awesome battle scenes and the Xerxes scenes. The rest of it sucks dead chimera's ass,
